Coki Beach at a glance
Coki Beach is at Coki Point on St. Thomas in the US Virgin Islands, directly beside Coral World Ocean Park. The two are neighbors but separate. The beach is where you swim and snorkel. The park is a paid attraction with marine exhibits and animal encounters. This guide is independent and not connected to either one.
To drive there, take Coki Point Road (Route 388) from Smith Bay Road (Route 38). Taxis go there from the town and the cruise piers, and the fare is explained below.

Snorkeling at Coki Beach
Clear water, and vendors on the sand.
The water
The water here is clear and turquoise on a good day. Swim and snorkel close to shore, watch for boats, and look at the weather and the water that day.
Rentals and snacks
Vendors on the beach rent loungers and snorkel gear and sell snacks. No common price list is published for 2026, so ask what an item costs before you take it, and agree on the length of the rental.
Reef rules
Coral and fish are easily harmed. Do not stand on or touch coral. The US Virgin Islands ban sunscreen with oxybenzone, octinoxate and octocrylene, so choose mineral sunscreen with non-nano zinc oxide or titanium dioxide. A "reef safe" label alone proves nothing, so read the ingredients.
Sea turtles
Turtles live in the seagrass around St. Thomas. Boats should stay at least 50 feet (about 15 m) away. Never chase or touch a turtle, and do not expect to see one.

Hours, parking and booking
The details that decide whether the day works.
Seasonal opening days
On open days the park runs from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, and the ticket office closes at 3:00 pm. From October to April and in July it opens daily. In May and June and in August and September it opens Tuesday to Saturday, so Sunday and Monday are normally closed. Coral World also posts single closing days, so check its calendar for your date, especially in October.
Parking pass
Parking is free for park customers. Collect a parking pass at the ticket office and put it where it can be seen. A car without a pass can be fitted with a boot. If you plan to visit the beach as well, get the pass first. Do not assume there is a free public lot at the beach.
Park wristband
The wristband lets you move between the park and the beach during your visit.
When to book
The operator recommends booking ahead for animal encounters and underwater activities. General admission tickets can also be bought on site, subject to availability.
Getting to Coki Beach by taxi
Two published fares from town.
| Source | From | Fare |
|---|---|---|
| Coral World | Downtown, Havensight or Crown Bay | $20 per person from 2 people, 20 to 25 minutes |
| Taxi operator | Downtown | $18 for one person, $14 per person in a group |
The two numbers differ, so settle on the fare with the driver before you start. Licensed taxis carry a roof sign and a TP on the license plate. The cruise port page has fares for other routes.
Water quality at Coki
The territory's environment department tests beaches every week. Coki Point was marked as not suitable for swimming in the reports of 4, 11 and 18 September and 2 October 2026. The report of 16 October 2026 listed it as meeting the standard again.
These are snapshots, not guarantees. Read the latest weekly advisory before you go. Stay out of the water after heavy rain or if it looks cloudy or smells bad.
Wondering where to go if Coki is not right on the day? The beaches overview lists twelve bays on St. Thomas, and the Magens Bay page covers the biggest beach park.
